Breddos Tacos a menu inspired by travel experiences from Mexico and America using seasonal British Ingredients a short walk from Barbican station in Clerkenwell.
The décor was laid back, cosy and great place for a short catch up with friends. The restaurant doesn’t take reservation and is based on first come basis. My friend and I planned to meet early to avoid waiting in the queue.
We were served tacos crisps with two types of salsa habanero (very hot it was indeed), Chile Morita and sesame oil when we were seated.
For drinks we both ordered Pink Striped Lemon, Hibiscus & Rosehip which was refreshing so I ordered some more.
To start with I ordered Kung Pao Pork Belly sichuan, bird’s eye chile, spring onion, sesame seeds which was mildly spiced with crunch from the onions and fresh coriander, a good start to the meal.
While my friend opted for Baja Shrimp spinach, wild garlic, habanero which she quite enjoyed.
Next we ordered a sharing plater of Carne Asada aged onglet steak, miso & bone marrow butter, burnt grelot onion. This was the pièce de résistance of the whole meal, we enjoyed it thoroughly that the whole plate was licked clean including the two sauces that was served with the dish.
Followed by the steak it was Mr Octopus turn Pulpo black vinegar, sichuan, bone marrow, potato, sesame seeds ideally I would have preferred more of the sliced octopus the combination was good but I personally felt that there was more of the potato.
While my friend and I were still debating if we should have the dessert that is when she spotted the milk based pudding Leche Frita cajeta, miso sugar. We ordered one to share and we were not disappointed it was a perfect way to end the meal.
